As far back as I can remember, art has influenced me in some form or another. In the late 80's I was introduced to the art of Decorative Painting by a good friend. Just like anyone who tries something new, my start was shaky at best. Over time though, I progressed and my personal artistic flavor came through. I started creating my own works which lead me on a path to eventually open Erika Joanne Designs. This was all through the loving support of my family who patiently put up with paint brushes in the sink, and many, many projects at the kitchen table.
Designing, teaching, and sharing with others has become a cherished part of my life. Each day is a blessing. I have met many new friends from different areas of the globe along the way, all of which inspire and motivate me on my artistic journey. |

Currently, my focus has been on two different painting mediums. I use Acrylics, which are my first love, in my nutcracker and whimsical designs. Colored Pencils are incorporated into my realistic designs in a technique I call Paint & Pencil. This is a fun and exciting way to combine the use of both acrylics and colored pencils into your painting. In sharing my creations with you, it is my hope that you will find new possibilities in yourself.
